Wed. May 25...Day 9

Day 9 May 25, 2011

Our last day on the open sea!!! And what a day it has been. I think the waves have been higher today than any of the other days. There have been a couple of times that the ship has really tilted. It is the first time that we have heard things fall and break in the dining room. It is quite an experience. BUT. . .

The sun has been shining and so the waves were absolutely gorgeous. There isn’t any other word for it.

In spite of a very unstable ship, Mike and Emily went and did their exercises this morning. I spent part of my day doing laundry. Even though it isn’t what you’d expect to do on a cruise, it is nice to be able to have clean clothes.

Today during lunch we sat right next to this railing in the dining room. We were upstairs looking down. The chef came out and was talking to the officer in charge of the hospitality. We had another delicious meal. Emily has all of the servers calling her by name. Even the man at the desk that takes our room number calls her by name.

After supper tonight we went to see another performance by a group that we saw the other night. It is made up of two couples. The women play the piano and cello and the men sing and do a comic act. It was good. Tonight the one couple played a duet on the piano. He first pretended that he didn’t know how to play and then ended up playing beautifully. It was very good. I wish I could do half of what that woman could do on the piano.

More of the beautiful flower arrangements around the ship.

It is really quite exciting to be thinking about land tomorrow. There are a couple of places around the ship and even in the stateroom that we can see the exact location of the ship. Today when we got up we were getting close to Ireland. AND tomorrow we will be going ashore!!

But for tonight, I’ll still say “Good night from the Atlantic Ocean".

The water/waves is beautiful, but I'm sure the pictures don't show half of how pretty it really is. Emily is so spoiled...haha good for her!!!! Have fun exploring Ireland tomorrow :)
