Day 11 May 27, 2011
Happy Day from Dublin, Ireland. Can you tell that the elevator door was going to close on Emily, and Mike and I were on the outside? We got the picture and in the elevator just before the door closed.
We arrived in Dublin, this morning. We took our time getting around since we didn’t have a tour to go on. Then we took a shuttle bus to city center. It dropped us off just outside the National Library. We wanted to go to the Heraldic Museum. A museum with crests or coats of arms of Irish families in it. It just so happens that both Mike and I are of Irish descent like one in every five Americans. I am a Maguire and Mike a Farrell. Both very well known Irish names here in Ireland. Well, after all that explanation we walked up and down Kildare Street four times looking for the museum only to find out that it is no longer there!! Oh well, at least it was a nice day. Cold (only in the 50’s today), but the sun was shining.
We walked around the area. We had a couple of things that we wanted to do, visit a bank, check our internet, etc. Again we walked up and down looking. Finally found a McDonalds that had free wi-fi. Well. . . it wasn’t working today!!! Strike two!! BUT we found a bank. . .but we couldn’t buy any British sterling. Strike three!!! It was a nice day.
We had fun watching people. All kinds of people.

Lots of beautiful sights too. Buildings, flowers, doors, lightposts, mailboxes, stadium, boats, bridges. Here are just a few pictures.
Emily has come down with a bad cold. Her poor little nose is all red and sore. But she is still trying to keep up with us. We came back to the ship in the afternoon and had lunch. All three of us got naps and felt a lot better for the evening.
The ship left the harbor at 6:30. It was very interesting. The tug boat actually pulled the ship away from the quay and then turned it around and headed it out to sea. It was very interesting to watch.
Emily’s critter was hanging around when we got back to the room tonight!!

oh no, sorry you had so many "strikes" against you today. I loved all the pictures you took of the city. Poor Emily!
