The work continues.

We are advancing « à grand pas » (in big steps) as they say here in France.  Yesterday we were able to finish taking the wallpaper off in the dining room.  It was quite the job since they hadn’t used a primer on the wall and had wallpapered right over top of the old wallpaper.  In the living room they had used a primer and the paper just slipped off, with a little bit of help.
Getting ready to paint the primer!
There is a BIG mirror in the living room (takes up the whole wall).  We wanted to take it off.  But they must have glued the mirror to the wall.  If we tried to take it off we’d probably break the whole wall.  For right now, we’ll leave it there.  When we had the plumber in the house the other day he suggested putting up wallboard right over top of the mirror.  That is an idea.  But Mike and I don’t feel qualified to do that kind of work.

The house is really starting to take shape.  We are excited to get our furniture there and really get moved in.

Hopefully sometime this week we’ll be connected again.  Of course, on Wednesday we’ll go back to Reims and we won’t have internet there.   We’ll be there for about a week.  But they have McDonald’s in Reims.  We have some banking business to take care of in Reims.  Moving day is scheduled for December 5.   The first thing that Emily wants when we get our things in the new house is to set up the Christmas tree.  It is so hard to think about Christmas when we are in such a shuffle right now.

Glad to hear you got the paper off and can move on to wall papering the dinning room and living room. Wish we were there so Marc could cover up that big mirror for you:( I'm not a big fan of the gold frame around the mirror so I'd paint it black (just an idea if you are "stuck" with it for longer then you want). Miss you tons. Hope you get everything taken care of that you need to in Reims. Love ya!
