A day at the beach!!

Monday, we decided to take a day off.  We had decided last week when it was really hot that this week we'd go to the beach.  But instead of being really hot, it turned out to be a rainy weekend.  We were beginning to wonder if we were going to be able to go.   Even after a rainy Sunday we decided that we would go anyway, even if it was cold and cloudy.

We didn't leave until after lunch on Monday.  We drove to Dieppe, about an hour away on the English Channel.  We had read on internet that there were two beaches in Dieppe.  Once we got to the city we followed the signs to the beach.
A beautiful, sunshiny day at the beach.
Green flag means good swimming!!
It turned out to be a beautiful day.  About 18° with a little wind.  We walked down to the beach.  The tide was out but on it's way in.  We had to walk down a beach of stones to get to the sandy part.  It wasn't easy walking but slipped and slid and got down to the beach.  We got set up.  With good books, water, and a couple of snacks.  There weren't too many people there.
This is what a day off is all about!!

Emily enjoying her day off!!
I went in the water twice.  The water was 18° too.  It was nice.  There were a few waves but not too big.  The second time I went in, the water seemed colder but I think it was because the tide was really coming in then.
The view from the water.

We stayed about 4 hours.  We decided to leave as the tide was really coming in.  We wanted to be able to go up a ramp instead of trying to climb the stones.  The water was about 5 feet from the bottom of the ramp when we left.
This why we brought Emily with us!!

Our "beast of burden"  In the end she didn't carry the blue chair.  That was just for the picture!!

We all had enough sun.  We had used sunscreen, but still came away with sunburn in places where the sunscreen hadn't covered.  We had a great time away from everything.
And one more for the road.

Nice post. So glad you could relax and get away. You have been very busy since you got back.

Thanks for the gorgeous pictures, as always.

You could write a book, you know.
