Christmas is over for another year. We did have a good Christmas! This year we were able to go to Christmas programs in two different churches. Last year we weren't able to go to any. So this was extra special.
Our Christmas started on Christmas eve with our
reveillon. Here in France people celebrate Christmas more on Christmas eve than on Christmas day. They have a big meal, then they go to the midnight mass (maybe not so much anymore) and then they come back to the house and open the présents. This is called the
reveillon. Ours consisted more of specialty foods eaten around 7:00. :)But it was enough to satisfy Emily who is all about tradition this year.

Emily has been so excited about Christmas this year that we thought she would be up at the crack of dawn. She is in the bad habit of staying awake at night and not wanting to get up in the morning. Even with all of the excitement we still had to wake her up.
While waiting I lit all of the candles in my village. It takes awhile now with over 50 houses to light. And that is even with 9 that have electric lights in them. I also put a fire in the fireplace. We are so spoiled!!!

Then we had Christmas. Tradition
oblige we read the Christmas story and then with each of us taking our turn, we opened our gifts. No real surprises for us since we picked out our own gifts. But we were able to get a few things that we've been needing or wanting.

We had steaks on the grill and baked potatoes and celery soup for lunch. With
mousse au chocolat for dessert.

After we ate we were able to talk to dad. We skyped with Elizabeth, Dan and the kids in Chile and Esther, Marc and the kids in Indiana. It was a great Christmas.

I received an apple peeler too. I love it. So does Dan because it is easier for him to eat an apple.
