Paris, Grand-Couronne, Rouen

PARIS

During the past month we have gone to Paris every Sunday.  It is a very interesting drive.  We counted that we cross the Seine River at least four times, one way, during the drive.  It is about 130 km (85mi), one way. The drive takes us through an agricultural area before arriving in the Paris area.  We enter Paris after going through a forest and then a tunnel.  It was really surprising the first time we did it.  I tried to get pictures but it is hard to get the "feeling".

We had a great time with the people in the Paris-Centre church.  I can see that it is not going to be an easy thing to be in a church, getting to know the people and then leaving .

At home we've been busy.  Saturday we decided it was time to start cutting the bushes back.  We knew it would be a job since the bushes seem to grow faster here.  Maybe it is because of all of the rain that we get.  We started on the yard side of the bushes and got the side and top done.  But we still need to finish the top and side on the path side of the bushes.  And then we have to do the other hedges on the side and the front of the house.  It is a lot of work.  But we're doing it a little bit at a time.

We are "fish-sitting" this week while our neighbors are on vacation.  We weren't sure how Pumpkin would react to the fish so we decided to put it in Mike's study.  That way when he isn't in the room we can close the door and the kitty can't get to it.  This morning I went in to the study to say something to Mike and saw the kitty watching  the fish.

Rouen

We have made a lot of trips in to Rouen in the last couple of weeks.  With Mike's surgery and Emily's appointments.  Mike's surgery was June 21.  He seemed to be making good progress until a month ago.  He had an abscess in the inscision that had been made to take out the cyst.  That was July 18.  We made the trip back into Rouen to see the surgeon that had operated.  He was put on anitbiotics.  Yesterday his face was swollen again.  We knew it was another abcess.  After calling his surgeon, our dentist and about 10 other dentists he finally got an appointment at the hospital.  Everyone was on vacation.  The dentist there opened the incision again to let the pus out.  He is now on antibiotics again.  Thank you for praying for him.

Emily has been on medicine for hypothyroidisme for a month now.  We have seen some evident progress in her attitudes and practices.  It is refreshing.  She talked to Grandpa on the telephone the other day.  IT was the first time in about 6-9 months, maybe even since Christmas.  Last week she had an appointment with a cardiologist.  A routine checkup.  He wanted to do an ultrasound of her heart.  She had that this morning.  At the end he said her heart is "impeccable".  PERFECT!!  What a relief.
