Follow-up, Friends and Flowers!

Mike is doing a lot better since his surgery.  It has taken longer than he thought to get over the effects of the surgery.  His mouth is still very sore.  The stitches are starting to come out.  He can eat "people" food now but it still has to be very soft.  He will be preaching this coming Sunday (14th) so please continue to pray for him.

Summer has finally arrived here in our area.  Our flowers have had some warm weather and are thriving.  Pretty soon the hydrangea will be out.

Yesterday we went to church in Savigny sur Orge.  It brought back a lot of memories.  Mike worked in this church in 1974 on his MAP (missionary apprenticeship).  It was here that he decided that the Lord wanted him in France giving the Bible to French people.  We also attended this church in 1982-84 while we were in language school.

We decided to go to Savigny yesterday after reading on facebook that one of our former students at the Bible institute, and who is now pastoring that church, was having his first baptisms.  Matthieu and his wife Jennifer, have been pastoring at Savigny for about a year now.  He did a good job.  We surprised them and they seemed happy to see us.

While there, we had the surprise of seeing our French grandma.  We had lost contact with her, when she couldn't see and hear anymore and moved to the Paris area.  While we were in Reims we would go and pick her up about 45 minutes away.  She would spend the weekend with us and then we'd take her home.  I think the last time we saw her was in 2005 when we celebrated her 90th birthday.  She is well taken care of by a granddaughter and her family and the church family.  She will be 98 on her birthday in November.  At first she didn't recognize us.  She is officially blind.  But when I said my name, she said "I knew someone by that name".  When I said it was me.  That brought back the memories.  She asked about the girls and their families.  She even remembered that Esther and Marc were supposed to come back to France.
