I know!! I know!! I shouldn't be surprised by so much rain. After all, we do live in Normandy. But the last few days have been exceptionally rainy. So much so that our roof started leaking. Oh no!! Yep! That's right. It is leaking in our bedroom. Not over the bed, fortunately but along one wall.
You have to understand our house. When it was built, in the 1980's, it was a smaller house. There were only two bedrooms. We think that it was the first owner who added on the back end of the house (two bedrooms and the bathroom). The original bathroom is where the hall closet and hallway are right now. The original tiled floor is still visible inside the closet.
Yesterday morning Mike noticed that the wall in our bedroom was wet. We got our ladder and went up into the attic. We figure that the roof is leaking where the addition was added to the house. We called a roofer but haven't heard back. Maybe the weekend before Christmas isn't the best time to have house problems. At least the rain is supposed to be less over the next few days.
Because of all of the humidity here in Normandy there is moss all over the place. One thing that is on our list to get done is to have the moss removed from the roof. This could be another reason why the roof started leaking.
Other than this, we are looking forward to Christmas. Emily made her list of food that she wants to eat. You'd think she was raised in luxury. She had foie gras, caviar and salmon on her list!! We laughed and laughed when we read it.
On the 26th our friends, the Baughman's will be coming and spending a couple of days with us. Also on the 26th our front door will be changed. We decided we needed to change it when we couldn't lock it anymore. :)
Have a great Christmas!!
