That pretty much summarizes the telephone call that we received this morning. The realtor in Rouen called to say that the signing for the house had been postponed!! The owner of the house has been waiting for a paper from the Swiss government that he needs before we can sign. I'm not sure what it is all about. It doesn't really matter! Anyway this kind of throws a monkey wrench into all of our well laid plans. It brings up more questions than answers: Can we still stay in the house even though we haven't signed the papers? Should we start the work even though the house isn't officially ours? Should we even go?
We're waiting for a telephone call this afternoon which should answer some of the questions that we have. Once we've heard again from the realtor we'll know better what we should do.
A hiccup. We never expected to get to this place and not know what we're going to do. But we don't have to worry. We know Someone who is not surprised by the hiccups that we encounter in this life.
Our hiccup turned into a cough. Not a bad one, though. :-) The realtor called back this afternoon, like he said he would and we do have a signing date. Everything is set for November 2. Here in France the 1st is a holiday so we couldn't do it then.
The man received his paper but there were some other situations (house not being empty, his wife not wanting to have the signing so late in the afternoon even though they have known since the end of September that it was at 6:00 pm) that kept us from signing tomorrow. So we will be able to sleep in our nice, cozy bed, in a warm house, with hot water, in Reims this weekend. We'll go to Rouen on Wednesday if there are no more hiccups.
We are praying now that there won't be anymore hiccups along the way and that soon this house will be our new home. Thank you for your prayers for us.
