Happy birthday, Mike!!

I hesitate to say anything about Mike's age knowing that in two weeks I'll catch up to him.

It actually started out with some good news.  We finally heard from the notaire (lawyer).   WE HAVE A DATE!!  We will sign for the house in Grand Couronne on October 28th at 6:00 pm.  We are excited about finally being able to have a date to start the work (paint, wallpaper, etc.) on the house.  And at the same time dissappointed because we still have to wait a whole month before we can start anything.  Oh well, this will give us time to contact the movers on our end and get some official estimates about how much this is going to cost.  We did some research on internet and found out that it is much more expensive than what we had expected.  After that shock, we looked into doing it ourselves.  We found out that it would save us a little bit of money but not enough to make the extra work worthwhile especially at our age!! :-)

Speaking of age . . .We did everything we were supposed to do for a birthday.  Birthday banners, (don't know how they missed being put in a box) balloons (Emily found those in a cupboard somewhere.  I didn't even know we had them), presents (no wrapping paper, it's been packed away), birthday cake (well, cheesecake with fresh fruit to be exact), and birthday hugs (a must in our family).

"Happy birthday dear Papa!!  Happy birthday to you"

Yummm!

Emily's improvised wrapping "paper"

"I love you Papa!!"
AND to top off a "busy" day of getting older. . .a good nap on the couch on a beautiful summer day in September.  Yes, our summer weather is continuing.  It was 28°c yesterday and we are to continue to have this kind of weather through next week.  After our cool (16-19°c), rainy summer we are really enjoying the beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures.
