It's that time of year again. With our birthdays less than three weeks apart we should just celebrate them together. But Emily makes sure that we have separate birthday celebrations. We did use the same balloons for my birthday that we used for Mike's. But don't tell her that!!
For Mike's birthday we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant. I forgot my camera. So there aren't any pictures. While we were there we asked Emily where she was going to take me for my birthday. She looked out of the corner of her eye at me and said "McDonald's". We got a good laugh out of that.
She is so funny. She had decided way in advance that Mike would have a pie for his birthday. He wanted an angel food cake. So that is what I made. Since she likes angel food cake too, everything was fine.

And then it's my turn!! When we were in Reims we had a favorite "oriental" (near east) restaurant. We hadn't yet found one here. But that's what we decided we wanted for my birthday. I started looking in the yellow pages for one in Rouen. Then we received an advertisement for one in Elbeuf which is closer than Rouen. AND there was a 10% off coupon. We decided to try it out. We were not disappointed!! The couscous was delicious!!

| Couscous--YUM!! |
 |
| Semoule--similar to a very course cream of wheat grain; Vegetables and bouillon in big crock. |
 |
Meat served on the side, chicken legs, merguez (spicy sausage) turkey shish kebabs, beef shish kebabs. There were also several other choices of meats. You pay by how many meat selections you order. We each ordered three. Which was too much!! |

| Emily's plate |
 |
| Sweetened mint tea served Tunisian style. |
When we got home the house was so cold, we started a fire in the fireplace. That was fun to have on a cold rainy day.
For my birthday we had the lemon meringue pie. Emily reminded Mike on Tuesday that he needed to make my pie!! :-) We were so full from the couscous that we ended up not having birthday "cake" until around 4:30.
