Snow-y days!!

What do you do when it snows?

We really don't have that many "snow days" here in France.  But this past week we were hit with "the big one"!!  They announced it on Sunday that there was a possiblility of 20-40 cm of snow over two days.  We just about got that much here at our house.

The snow started sometime during Sunday night.  By Monday morning we probably had about 6-10 cm on the ground.  Then the wind started blowing plus it kept snowing.  In some places the drifts were over 2 meters high.  We didn't have it that bad being protected by the hedges around our house.  It snowed more Monday night and then again all day Tuesday with wind.
A week ago we grilled for the first time this year.

Snow Monday morning

Tuesday afternoon

Yesterday the sun came out and we thought we were done.  But during the night we had another couple of cm.  Now they are announcing warmer, though rainy, weather the next few days.  The snow should dissappear fast.

So what did WE do during our snow days!  Here are a few pictures:

changed the living room around

Monday--had a fire in the fireplace all day long

taught Emily some piano
shoveled snow

Tuesday--had a fire in the fireplace all day long!!

shoveled snow again

ate chili and cornbread
Wednesday--had a fire in the fireplace all day long

Today the sun has come out and the snow is melting fast.  This morning the kitty decided to be brave and try the snow.  She is a lightweight (probably not even 7 pounds) but still broke through the "crust" on the snow.  She didn't like that one bit!!
"Do you really think I should try it?"

"Wet paws!!  Wet paws!!"
Last week we had a taste of Spring.  Then Winter came back.   I am ready for Spring to come and stay!!

You really are a writer or a photo journalist. You could have a second career. Loved reading about your snow and the pictures. I know for sure that children would like your descriptions and pictures. I could read your blog to my classes and see if they like them. :)
