I'm hard up trying to find a title for this blog. It seems our lives have kind of settled into a routine. We live 3 days in Rouen and 3 days in Reims and one day on the road. Seems kind of boring. What else is there to write about. When we are in Reims we're packing boxes (already talked about that). When we are in Rouen we check into banks (already talked about that). So what else is there to talk about.
Let's see. . .
Last week when we came back to Reims we decided to "paint" an old piece of furniture. We have had this china closet in the hallway of our house here and the color (light wood color) has been fine. But in Rouen it will be in the dining room with the buffet and piano and table so we thought we would varnish it so that the color would fit in better with those pieces of furniture.
We bought the sandpaper and started the work. It isn't real wood so we weren't sure how it would turn out. We sanded it one time, put on a coat of varnish. Sanded it a second time, put on another coat of varnish. But after all of that the color just wasn't right. It needed some reddish tints to it. So we bought another color of varnish, sanded it and put on the new varnish. PERFECT!! It is so pretty and will look really nice in the new house.
Last week we were also invited to eat lunch with a young family from the church here in Reims. Mike had their wedding three years ago and their little girl was born just before we went to the States last year. We had a good time. While we were there we mentioned the furniture that we needed to get rid of because of going into a smaller house. She said that she could put pictures on the internet and try to sell them. We came home, took the pictures and sent them to her. She is doing it all for us. We appreciate it so much.
This week we renewed contact with a missionary family that live just north of us, Clare and Linda Baughman. We have always had good fellowship with them. They came for lunch yesterday. We enjoyed looking at the pictures of their trip to Israel and also just talking and catching up on a year's worth of news.
And here we are Saturday again. Getting ready to leave for Rouen in just a couple of hours.
